What does "Testimony" mean?
I have always been slightly confused about what Christians tend to call a testimony. I feel that a testimony is telling others not just about how you came to meet Christ but about what Christ has done in your life and is doing. The disciples told of all they had "seen and heard" Jesus do, not just about the first time they met Him.
I think that for some people who may not remember exactly how they came to Christ (that's me) when they hear this "Testimony" thing they think "I don't have one" which is a lie - because if Jesus is in you, then you will have a mountain of things to say about the things He has done and is doing in you.
I think it is important to change that language - because it confused me for a long time. It made me think - gee, I have no testimony. Now I know that sharing my testimony is declaring the wonderful works of God in my life. I am not limited to sharing just my story of coming to the knowledge of Christ.
I believe testimony should mean: Sharing with others the awesome works of Christ in your life, including, but not limited to the story of how you first came to Christ.
