I am not defending knives, nor am I defending guns. I don't think people who have bad attitudes and think they might "get" a chance to use them should carry them. I just believe it should be a privilege to carry, and one should go through training to do so. People need to think about it in advance. I know an awful lot of police, sheriffs and highway patrol...most have never had to use their gun. I think the reason why is preparation, if they have not been prepared properly then they would be more likely to use it. I do believe the right people carrying would be very helpful and, again, I am thankful for those officers in my congregation, in the mall, in the schools who are carrying...whether we know they are or not. My son's resource officer in school always carries but it is not displayed. That way the kids cannot be fascinated by it, but it is always there. A thought, the "bad" guys are carrying, therefore, the "good" guys should...as long as it doesn't turn the "good" into the "bad". Somebody trying to be a hero and making a mistake that will last the rest of his life, or end someone elses.
