Default Birth control pills=early abortion?

I'm sorry if this is a touchy subject for some...

I recently learned that birth control pills can stop a fertilized egg from attaching to the lining of the uterus, thus causing an "early abortion." I would be afraid of the possible side effects anyway, but now I definitely do not ever want to use "the pill" if an "early abortion" is a possibility, as I am strongly against abortion.

Since I plan on not having sex unless I get married and am only 19, maybe I shouldn't be worrying about this sort of thing just yet, but it really bothers me. I guess if I was married I would go with "natural family planning" although I don't know much about it at the moment. I think I've heard that if you take your temperature every day you can learn when you're ovulating, although I don't know if that's true.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this...Are there any methods of birth control I haven't heard about (besides "natural family planning") which do not cause "early abortions?" I'm also a little curious about how "natural family planning" works, but I would hate to ask personal questions about it...Just general information would be interesting...

You could try things like a diaphram which is just a barrier like a condom and it is fairly effective. There are foams and sponges, but these are less effective and you would be almost better off doing the natural family method. I think you have the basic idea of the family method, but it really isn't effective. I know a couple that have seven children from using this method and he is just a gym teacher at a local high school and she is a stay at home mom. So needless to say they are very stressed out by all the kids and finances. I would talk to a doctor when the time comes for you to make a decision about birth control and see what methods are most effective. Birth control is changing on a yearly basis and so many are new that I really worry about the long term side effects not only to you, but any of your future children. This is really a decision that you need to pray about, discuss with a professional, and your future spouse. My hubby decided to be responsible for this, because of all the problems that it caused me and you may be lucky in this area too. I will pray you get some answers about this.

i hope i don't have to use the pill personally when/if i get married. i tried it for health reasons a few years back and it really would take a miracle to get me to ever go back on it because of the side effects. i've also heard of its potential abortifacient (i know i spelled it wrong) nature and am still slightly skeptical. the chances of an abortion are happening are very small as i understand it but i'm unsure myself if i wanna risk any possibility of accidentally aborting any child. i s'ppose there's always the trust factor to consider as well: do i trust God to be sovereign enough to watch over any child of mine even before i am aware i he/she exists?

NFP really depends on your convictions. You need to be completely aware of your cycles and monitoring that stuff very closely. There is of course always the risk of unexpected pregnancy esp if your cycles are irregular (at least thats how i understand it - someone more wise can feel free to correct me ). but if you're of the conviction that you don't want to use man made BC then NFP would be you only option if you're still interested in some form of BC.

there are of course other methods of birth control out there. the most obvious are condoms, depo-provera shots, diaphragm, IUDs. all of which you'd have to look into yourself to decide if they're for you and talk to your doctor about. Its would also be a good idea when you get to that point to talk over with your husband to be what form of birth control you'd both be comfortable with.

I agree with the other ladies. This will be a decision for you and your husband, getting reliable information from your doctor. You will find that being spontaneous will be important in your marriage. I have been on the pill for much of my married life. It took a while after getting off of it to get pregnant. I went quite a while not using anything and trying other methods and I prefer the pill. (for so many reasons) But it is such a personal choice. I think there are risks associated with all choices. You have to decide which risks are worth it and you can live with. I have no family history to help me out since my mother and sister both had hysterectomies at early ages (due to health reasons). I believe, when taken as prescribed, the BCP simply prevents ovulation but I understand your concern of the abortion. Either way, I guess we are trying to control what ultimately God should be in control of. I have had three miscarriages, so I have never really been in control anyway.

web md has a lot of great information on BC methods...
http://www.webmd.com/sex/birth-contr...ntrol-overview

when the time comes you and your husband will make the choices that fit G-d's plan for your lives, but I also believe in thoroughly researching as well.

I will tell you that personally if I had it to do over, I would never have touched a BC pill for all the tea in China...

Unfortunately I was one of those 1 in a goo goo plex women, that developed cancer as a result of using the pill ...

I'm alive, but I'm also sterile.

I tell you this only to urge you to make a completely informed decision...even on something as basic and "simple" as birth control

thanks for posting that info, Gwen. I'm not in a point of my life where i have to worry about this stuff yet and won't be for a while but i figure its never too early to start looking into this stuff so when he time *does* come i can make an informed choice.

I'm sorry you had to go through all of that though Gwen
