What is the most helpful or encouraging thing anybody has said or told you?
Just what the title says, what is the most helpful or encouraging thing anybody has told or said to you about being single?

I have had a few different people tell me that they can't imagine me being single for very long.
I hope they're right...

I have been told countless times that God has someone in mind for me. It may just take a while for him to find me. But to rest assured, that if I just focus my time of singlehood in prayer and devotion to God, when that man shows up, I'll be ready for him.
The other thing I've been told is how my mom prays for me each and every night for a godly man whose personality complements mine to one day sweep me off my feet.

honestly the most helpful thing anyone has ever told me when i was single was from paulewog here, and i don't think he even realised hehe.
He told me to seek and pursue God as passionately and sincerely as i would my future spouse. It doesn't directly relate to being single but in a way it does. As important as my relationship with my future husband will be my, relationship with God is even more important so learning to pursue Him and His truth is something God used Paul to really speak to me about. Its not enough for us to just know about Him just like it wouldn't be enough for us to just know about our future spouse. we need to be serious about pursuing that relationship and passionate about maintaining a healthy one.

SP, you never answered your own question. Do you have something helpful or encouraging that someone has shared with you?

I can't copy and paste quotes from my phone, but I will try to get to a computer and answer you in a day or so. There are a few quotes that fit. And no real encouragement from people speaking to me, but there are some things God has said or shown me. I just don't feel like typing them all out right now.

Here is one line from Secondhand Lions that God has really used to speak to me.
Quote:
|
Hub: Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; and I want you to remember this, that love... true love never dies. You remember that, boy. You remember that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You see, a man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in.

This one quote is something where God really spoke to me.
I could quote you bible verses and lines from songs, but this is the one thing I have heard where God spoke to me and really lifted me out of the pit. He used it to remind me of His promises and confirm that He will keep His word.
And shortly thereafter a person on another board encouraged me to cling to God's promises, that was probably the most encouraging thing a person has said to me.
