It depends on the situation. But if I had serious romantic intentions I would pay. At least early on in the relationship. As it grows, she could pay some depending on the situation.

i generally don't care but if he asks you out then he pays though that depends a lot on how long we've been going out. if we've been going out a while i might start protesting.

Both of you should get some money; then you should both run to the nearest Goodwill or store like that and buy some wacky clothes and dress up weirdly and then take pictures. Then bring the clothes to the donation center and give them back. After that, run outside and throw a snowball or two. Then you should go to a Starbucks and get some hot drinks and walk around the neighborhood and share life stories. Then sit somewhere and watch the sunset. You could instead go on a normal date to a restaurant. But food lasts only a day or two after it's eaten. Memories last forever

This is all just my opinion though. I don't know what you people actually do in Canada.
