Our new Pastor started yesterday so we didin't have communion. With our last Pastor we had it on the first Sunday of the month and also Maundy Thursday and Christmas.

Our new pastor started too, but we still did communion (thankfully!). We also do communion on the appropriate holidays. Do you wish you could do communion more often? Also, you mentioned your new pastor starting - how do you feel about the way Methodists move pastors around so frequently. Our pastor that left had been with us for about 4 years - I miss him - but the new pastor and his family seem great so far. I was impressed, he started a new sermon series, and gave us scriptures to read and note our thoughts for the week. I figured with the move we'd have a light sermon!

Yeah I really do wish we could have communion more often. Our new pastor is just that. He just finished the first step to become a preacher. He is a minister and will start the next part of his school this fall. This is his first full time charge. He had a good sermon and he and his wife seem real nice.
I'm not a real fan of moving the pastors every few years although this year it was a really necessary move. Our old pastor was having major personal problems and he was dismissed by the conferance. Until Sunday we had subsitute pastors. That was kinda nice but I'm glad that we have someone steady now.

Me too - went to a water park all day in the 100 degree weather - I'm wiped out! I can't wait 'til bedtime!
Did you have a rough day?

Question for the Methodists - I was reading through my Book of Discipline today due to a question on another forum, and I read in its entirety the section on abortion. I was a bit taken aback, I had always assumed the church would be pro-life, but after reading the section, it almost sounds pro-choice - or at the least wishy-washy. My question is, a. am I reading this wrong and b. do you agree with the church's stance?

I was somewhat aware of this... I think is a nice way of saying that we are both pro-choice, and pro-life at the same time.

I just re-read it. It looks like it saying that they will not support abortion except in instances where the mother's life is in danger, or there is no chance of life with the baby. It looks like they also say that they don't like abortion as birth control, and that they refuse to accept abortion as a means of getting a child of the desired gender.
I pretty much agree with that.
