I've been reading Isaiah as my daytime study, and the Gospel of Mark in the evenings.

I find I often disagree with the commentary on Isaiah, but I really love the text itself. People always talk as though the prophets spoke nothing except doom and gloom, but I find Isaiah uplifting, and filled all through with hope for things unseen. Hope that is tinged with sorrow, but all hope is thus.

Last night I read in Revelations and this morning in Psalms and Job. I've been all over lately though...

I got the Quest Study Bible as my baptism gift in June and I was determined to read the Bible straight through (I had previously read the New Testament in about 2 months) and I didn't think it would take me tooooo long. I got all the way to Numbers and confided in the person who gave me the bible that Numbers wasn't very interesting and that I wasn't enjoying the Bible as much as I had in the NT. She told me that reading the bible for the "just because you should" and not opening your heart and mind is not the way to study the word of God. She commented "but you're right, it's not a story telling book like some of the others, I mean for heaven's sake, it's called Numbers, how many stories do you know about digits?" Just a little story Good luck you guys!
