Veronica saw the familiar car sitting outside the Cafe as she pulled into a spare parking spot. She gave her reflection a quick glance in the rearview mirror, before stepping outside to greet Robert.

<<Robert! It's wonderful to see you again! Shall we go inside?>> She carolled as she walked towards him.

Michael was enjoying his day off and Janice was at the market. Just then the phone rang, <<Hello,>> It was Detective Brown Yeah I am alone what do you need. Umm sure I will right on that talk to you later Detective Brown had a list of names for Michael to investigate, that was his favorite thing to do, Michael always dreamed of making detective some day and as long he keeps doing these favors for Brown it might just happen.

Robert gave one of his rare smiles to Veronica. She never failed to cheer him up. Their friendship had blossomed into one of those rare things where people just 'click' - and to think it came about as a result of a chance meeting at a christmas party so long ago.

<<Veronica it has been a while hasn't it.>>
He gave her a customary peck on the cheek.
<<Indeed we shall.>>
He took her arm and led her into the cafe.
The usual for me thanks he said, and a regular latte for my friend. How is your 'work' going Veronica?>>

Meanwhile in De'Trafford residence

Jackie was holding the paintbrush and stairing into nowhere while tutor was mumbling her usual things..

<<I am sorry Mrs Coll, I cant do it today, its to hard for me to concentrate when my best friend might be a suspect>>

She put away the paintbrush and slowly advanced to the balcony and stayed there remembering all what has happened to her..

Veronica smiled briefly. Robert was always so uptight.... Well, being a Detective must have its downsides.

<<Work is fine, thankyou. Nothing ever really changes in my field. Your line of work must be so exciting at times! How is it going?>>

Robert pulled out a seat so Veronica could sit down and sat opposite her before replying. He rested his hands on the table... and cocked his head slightly on one side.

<<I am still assigned to the De'Trafford case. Nothing much is coming up there either... I don't suppose you have any idea about who could have wanted to do poor Jackie in. There seems to be little motive - unless you wanted to do her in so you could have George?

He smiled disarmingly. He didn't think Veronica was that kind of person even if she was hanging round an older man... which he didn't exactly approve of - some remnant of his catholic background which he thought he'd dealt with.

Veronica let out a delightful laugh. <<Oh, come Robert, you've asked me this question a thousand times! You've done more than ask! My fingerprints adorn that little folder of yours on the case. No, Except I think it was a threat. My dear! What news came up today? You do look all worried.>>

Robert smiled again. <<Is it that obvious? George just gave me a list of people, dates, and places that he 'suddenly remembered'.>>
He sighed. <<It might have been useful earlier... but now. Michael's going to look into it, but your name was on that list. Do you remember what connection you had with George at that time?>>

The news of her name sobered Veronica up. <<My name was on that list? Why, thats impossible! I met George mere days after the incident. Why would he - >> She was interrupted by the waitress bringing the drinks. The waitress left, and Veronica fell back into her chair with a sigh. <<It's not unexpected. Anyone and everyone is to be involved right now. He barely knows me. But I would never wish harm on Jackie>> Veronica leaned forward, and leaned on her hand whilst stirring her latte. She sighed, and looked at Robert with wonder. <<Why do you continue after three years? Why do you do it, Robert....>>

Jackie was on the balcony for oven an hour, and she just could not remember any new detail. The brightest memory was the smell of the rose...so seducingly sweet...and those memories of York she had at that very moment. And she has just descided she needs to do something with it...

She picked up a mobile phone an dialled her fathers number..

<<Hello, daddy? Its great to hear you! How is your health?Oh, im glad you are ok. I just had a thaught, and I think I want to go to York>>

Her father hesitatedm as she havent been there for over 5 years, sine the fire in the pub.

<<and dont tell me you think its silly, I beg you,just arrange a room above your pub please, I will be there in two days.I love you daddy>>
She put down the phone and breathed with relief. She felt she was finally doing the right thing.
