"Yeah, it was, why do you think I went to my room instead of coming over here to see Jackie's tiger?" Angel said, "Well, I'm glad you did. She looks happy," he continued as they walked down the halls, stopping at Jackie's room to put her pets away, then continuing their walk.

"Hey, Dana," Jackie said, going up to walk by Alex's sister, "oh, do you want me to call you Fracture while we're out? Well, I was going to ask you if you have any pets. Alex said he has a husky named Koda, so I wondered if you had a pet, too"

"Nah, DJ's fine." Dana replied, "I know it seems weird how protective we are of our real names, but we have them for a reason. For the same reason that others have secret identities. We don't want our family and friends to suffer, should anything happen. Had this been three years ago, we would have no problem using our real names in public. But, since then, we had an ... incident, and haven't used our real names in public since."

Not wanting to explain in detail, she changed the subject, answering Jackie's second question, "Um, yeah. I actually have a kitten. Kaya. He's only a month old."

"Ok," Jackie said in response to DJ's explanation to why they don't use their real names in public, "Oh, he sounds so cute! I'll have to go meet Kaya sometime!" Jackie paused for a moment as they were about to go out the door. "Um, hey DJ, could I hold your arm or something? I only have heat vision, and it's kinda hard for me to see obstacles sometimes, and I forgot about Rosie and I really don't like using a cane. Do you mind?"

Jackie woke up on Saturday at 8:00 and thought about her friends. They had a great time on their walk the other day, making jokes, laughing at squirrels, and just having fun in general. She sat up suddenly. Today was her date with Alex! She got out of bed, went to the kitchen to grab some breakfast, then took Rosie and Sanja to the exercise room. After feeding and watering them when she got back, she headed straight to her closet.
Okay, what to wear? She changed her eyes so she could see the different colors of the items in her closet. She eventually decided on black flare jeans, a red tank top with a white tank top under it, and a black long-sleeved shrug that buttoned right under her neck. She chose some black flats that had a little red bow on top for shoes. She then took a shower, got dressed, then put her hair in a half pony tail and put on a bit of makeup. When she was all done, she opted to stay in her room and read, because Alex hadn't said when he wanted to go. So, she picked up a nice thick book and settled down to wait.

Alex brought his hand to his forehead as he awoke, squinting his eyes as they adjusted to the light. It wasn't until after they adjusted, and he looked at the time on the clock --it was 8 AM-- that he realized he was using his heat vision. Often as he slept, he had no control over when he used his powers so this wasn't the first time it had happened. He was thankful that it was heat-vision, and not night-vision. When he woke to night-vision it was terribly painful to his eyes because of the morning sunlight.

Blinking his eyes to return them to normal, he pulled himself out of bed and walked into the bathroom. After showering, he stared into the mirror at his reflection. Clear complexion. Round face. Square jaw, and defined cheekbones. Not overly terrible-looking. Terribly average, actually. In his opinion, anyway. Though he hated the fact that he looked like his dead-beat father. He would have thought he was a dog, had it not been for the encouraging words of his sister, who was able to convince him that he was nothing like their father. Thank God. Where would he be without Dana?

With a sigh, he flicked his hands through his hair to mess it up slightly, and headed back into his room. He pulled on a pair of dark blue denim jeans, a slim-fitting orange Fender (his favorite guitar brand) tee shirt, and his black leather jacket. After getting something to eat, and taking Koda for a walk in the courtyard, he returned to his room, filled Koda's food dish, and then headed back out into the hall.

He stood outside of Jackie's door, and took a breath. God, I hope this goes well. A moment passed before he finally brought his hand up, and knocked.
