Alex nodded, still feeling sorry that he'd gotten her into this as she walked away. Interesting? He thought, Seriously?

"See you later, Jackie."

"Oh, and I wanted to tell you that I had a great time last night,"

He turned and faced her. A smile parted his lips. "Me too."

He turned back and headed for the kitchen after his sister.

Jackie headed down to the pool, making sure no one was around. She then took off her outer clothing until she was in her swimsuit, then dove into the water. She changed into a mermaid, and cavorted under the surface for a while. She came up after she got a little dizzy. As Jackie leaned on the side of the pool, she thought about Alex. She wondered if their relationship was going to go anywhere, or if they were just going to be friends and go hang out everyonce in a while. As she thought about him, she unconsciously began to sing. As soon as she realized what she was doing, she clapped her hands over her mouth and stopped. A mermaid, when she had feelings for someone, could lure them to her by her voice, as long as they were within range. She didn't know how big her range was, and she hoped Alex hadn't hear her.

(( Yes, that's true. Though, I think I have something slightly different in mind. I just refreshed myself on the Civil War article in Wikipedia, and saw this event. Well not this event exactly, but the news. ))

The news anchor droned on in the background, as Alex and Dana sat watching the television in the lounge. The stations were constantly on the News so the mutants in the Mansion could always keep up with whatever was going on within the SHRA. The scene suddenly changed to a live shoot with a reporter staring into the camera. Something was going on. Alex reached over and pressed the record button on the TV's remote control. "We're here outside Professor Xavier's School for the Gifted, where our sources tell us a crazed student from within the walls of the Mansion has started a riot. The local authorities have arrived on scene and are currently attempting to subdue him."

Their eyed widened, and both leapt from their seats and ran down the stairs to the closest doors leading outside the building--the back. "Where's Jackie!?" Alex asked.

"I don't know!"

"You go ahead! I have to find her!"

It was this moment, when Alex heard singing, and felt himself inexplicably drawn to the voice. Enchanting. Beautiful. He followed it. Wait... Jackie? He realized, Well, this is interesting. Good looks, and a great voice. He thought about playing guitar for her sometime. However, his thoughts subsided, and he remembered his goal the moment the singing stopped. He ran for the voice, only to find Jackie sitting on the side of the pool. "Jackie! I heard you singing, and you have an amazing voice, but you need to see this, now!"

"Jackie, I heard you singing, and you have an amazing voice, but you need to see this, now!"

Jackie turned to see Alex coming towards her. So he had heard her singing. At least she could start to figure out how careful she would need to be next time. She quickly swung herself around so she was sitting on the pavement, still a mermaid, then changed into a human.

"Ok, just let me get my stuff," Jackie said as she walked over and started pulling her clothes over her suit. She then hurried over to Alex and followed him as he began to walk brusquely away.

"What's up?" she asked, not knowing what all the haste was about.

"I'm not sure, but it's big." Alex replied, picking up his pace.

DJ skidded to a stop around to the front of the Mansion out of breath, where nothing short of chaos was forming. The police were everywhere. SHIELD agents came in helicopters, and many were taking aim at the boy. All over this single guy, who, as of now, wasn't even a threat. Students began to fill the front step, taking note of the scene. Watching what was unfolding.

"What I'm telling you is true!" The student, whom AJ and DJ had seen around the school occasionally, was yelling at the camera, once he'd seen that it was being reported live. His hands were projecting laser-sword-like beams of blue light. It looked as thought it was just to ward off the SHIELD agents, and the police while he got his story public. "They're tracking us, monitoring us, whenever we leave the Mansion. All of the students know this, but what they don't know is that the very chips that they're tracking us with emit a powerful electric charge to make sure that we can be subdued should we ever want to go our own way, or follow our own opinions about the SHRA!"

"Alex, are you hearing this?"

"Yeah." Was the reply, "And I can't say I'm surprised."

"There's a student outside the building claiming that the chips that are tracking us whenever we leave the building electrocute us if we ever try to escape, or join the resistance." Alex explained to Jackie, "There's SHIELD agents everywhere."

General Demetrius Lazer paced his office in the Office of National Emergency (O*N*E), watching the Newscast, cell phone plastered to his ear. This idiot mutant wanted a revolt. This, he could not have. He ground his teeth, and yelled into the speaker, "Do it!"

"But Sir," the voice on the receiving end replied, "it would only prove his point. He's already informed national television about the chips. Doing this would only rise a sympathy vote. It's what he wants."

Lazer clentched his fists, his fingernails leaving indents in his palm. His face wrinkled in anger. "There's nothing we can do about that now! We must prevent a riot from happening -- at all costs! Hopefully seeing the chip in action will instill fear, so they'll keep from rioting. Do it! NOW!"

Hesitation. Then, "Yes, Sir."

Alex slid to a stop beside his sister, as Jackie pulled up beside him. He caught his breath, just in time to see the young student suddenly drop to his knees, and then into the fetal position, shaking violently. They were using the chip! It was true!

"No!" Alex yelled, rushing forward.

"AJ!" He heard his sister scream after him.

He made it to the boy's side before the authorities, but before he had a chance to do anything, his arm immediately went numb, and in a matter of seconds, electricity was wreaking havoc on his entire body. He could do nothing, but stand as a statue as his body shook violently and uncontrollably. Searing pain rocketed through his limbs, and he screamed out in pure agony.

"ALEX!!" Dana screamed, "No. No, no! This had gone too far!"

Alex dropped to his side, twitching momentarily. Dana flew from beside Jackie, and knealt beside her brother, pulling his head into her lap. "Alex..."

His eyes slowly opened, and she noticed they were red. "Dana," He replied weakly, and slowly blinked again. This time, his eyes were green, and in the midst of changing to violet. The electric disruption sent his nerves into a tizzy, and his powers weren't under control. She brushed his hair from his face. SHIELD agents approached, and lifted the other boy up, taking him into custody.

The were about to go for AJ, but Dana guarded him, glaring in fury at the men. It didn't stop them at first, and they continued, but their commander pulled them back. "Not him!" He yelled, "His shock was a mistake." They glanced at her, and then headed back towards their commander.

"A mistake?!" DJ yelled, "You electrocuted my brother by accident?!"

"What is the meaning of this!?"

She turned to see the Professor himself, sitting at the top of the stairs just outside the front doors.

"This was not our agreement!" Xavier yelled.

"What're you doing? You idiot! What're you, trigger-happy?" Lazer yelled into the phone, "Just the first guy, not the second!"

Demetrius, though he was screaming his obections into the phone, he couldn't help but smile on the inside. It was time these mutants started getting what they deserved. His role as the neutral General who did what was best for both mutants and humans was just an act. It was not how he truly felt. But, he valued his job more than his opinion, so he didn't let it interfere with the rest of the company and only subtly made his anti-mutant views public.

"ALEX!" Jackie screamed. She couldn't believe this was happening. No, this could not be happening! She ran towards Alex and Dana.

"Alex, are you ok?" she looked at him, putting her hand on his cheek. She looked at Dana. "I can heal him, but we need to take him inside first," she said.

Jackie and Dana helped Alex stand, then slowly led him inside. Once in the building, they went into a small game room that had no windows. They laid him on a couch, then Jackie went to shut the door. After doing so, she shifted a bit so that a unicorn horn was on her head. Jackie gently touched the horn to Alex's arm. She then touched his head and his heart.

"Hey, Alex, you wanna get up?" Jackie asked softly, smoothing his hair off to the side.
