X-Men: The Marvel Civil War
What do you think of when you hear the words, " Civil War"? Surely, not a war between superheroes. Unfortunately, this is exactly the case.
All hell broke loose when the New Warriors chose to battle a group of villians in Stamford, Connecticut while filming a reality TV show. Nitro, becoming overcome with power, explodes, killing more that 600 people(including school children, and all of the New Warriors except Speedball) The public is enraged at this, and their opinions turn against those with superhuman abilities, branding many of them as "baby killers". Some superhumans are even attacked by angry citizens.
Iron Man guides congress into quickly passing the Superhuman Registration Act (SHRA), which entails the act of all people with superhuman abilities to register with the government (revealing their true identities to the government), and the training of those wishing to operate as superheroes.
Captain America refuses this registration, and forms an underground resistance, calling itself the "Secret Avengers", feeling that revealing their true identities to the government would contradict the entire purpose for having the secret identity: to protect their family and friends.
This, is the story of the students of Professor Xavier's School for the Gifted. The X-Men had made the decision to remain neutral during this Civil War, but surely, all of the students in the X-Mansion hadn't agreed with this. Many must have had their own opinions. Either to side with Iron Man, and register with the government, or to side with Captain America's beliefs, and refuse completely. Some, have left the mansion, to pursue their own beliefs, and even join with the side that they feel is right. Others, have chosen to keep their beliefs secret, and stay in the mansion. Such an act may even eventually result in a fight between two students with opposing beliefs about the Civil War.
So, I ask the burning question: Whose side are you on?
< OOC>
< Character Page>
Setting: Varies between the X-Mansion, and those who have left the X-Mansion to pursue their own beliefs. The SHRA has just been passed, and the public knows that there are those who oppose the act. The Goo Goo Dolls played softly in the background.
Alex sat on his bed, eyes closed, rocking back and forth as his left hand moved expertly across the fret board of his acoustic guitar. He was picking the strings quietly with his right hand, and singing the lyrics to Iris with great passion. He couldn't express how much he loved music. He adored it. Lived it. And, God willing, it was his dream to take his band to the top. Right now, things were cloudy, though. Although he believed in Captain America, he couldn't just leave the X-Mansion to join him and the Secret Avengers. But, the X-Men were neutral, and Alex couldn't just sit back watch this happen.
Knock, knock, knock.
AJ was too caught up in his music to hear the noise outside his door, and the muffled voice of the girl yelling his name from the hallway. "Alex! Augh, Alex, give your guitar a break and open the door! I've been standing out here for five minutes!"
Finally, Koda's whining broke him from his concentration, and he became aware of the girl outside. He laid his guitar on his bed, patted his dog, and opened the door.
"Augh, finally." His sister said as she entered the room and sat on his bed, next to his guitar. Koda grunted and leapt up into her lap, and she scratched his ears. "You really gotta learn to keep your ears open so you can hear me outside next time."
Alex laughed, "Sorry. Kinda hard sometimes."
"Yeah," DJ said sarcastically, "sure."
"Well, you're no better when you're practicing. It takes an earthquake sometimes to get you out of your room when a play is coming up."
DJ chuckled, "I guess you're right."
Koda grunted, and Dana spoke again, "Well, if you can step away from your guitar for a little while, I was hoping we could go for a bite to eat."
AJ shrugged. He knew the real reason she wanted to get out. He didn't have to communicate telepathically with her to know that. They needed to talk. Things were politically falling apart. They both agreed on their SHRA standing, but they still needed to talk about it, and they couldn't do that at the Mansion.
None of the public knew their real names. Except their families, and friends at the X-Mansion. They were well-known at the school, but mostly, they were known as Fracture, and Infrared, and it would stay that way. In no way were they going to endanger the lives of their parents by giving the government their true identity. Their father may have been a dead-beat, but he didn't deserve to be endangered by their enemies.
And their mother, heaven forbid it. She was the sweetest woman possibly known to man, and the last thing they would have ever wanted was to endanger her life because of some stupid registration act passed because some kids wanted to get famous. How could somebody be so stupid? Yes, children were killed, and that was terrible. But that didn't mean that it was by the fault of all superhumans. Was it his fault that they died? Was it Dana's fault that Nitro exploded? No. Not in any way. And yet still, the public still looks at them as "baby killers".
The thought enraged him beyond compare.
"Sure," he replied, "where to?"
"Cafe," DJ answered, "down the street. You can take Koda. It's a nice day, we'll eat at the table outside."

Jacqueline was a person who could make herself look invisible, literally and figuratively, if she so desired. She had many powers, but she couldn't necessarily control, and didn't even know, some of them. She could be seen in some shade of red shirt with a black, white, or gray undershirt, as she loved to layer her shirts. She wore jeans all the time, except for very special occasions. Her eyes were hazel, and very pretty, and she had slightly wavy brown hair that had hints of red that glinted out when in sun or moonlight. She was shy, but loved music, dance and music. She often composed music, then wrote a song and/or choreographed a dance to it. When she wasn't in the studio, she was reading a book in her room.
Jacqueline watch Infrared and Fracture leave. She bet they were going a cafe to go eat. She wished she could go, too, but no one ever noticed her here. Well, excepting the teachers, that is. But then again, she liked that way and tried to keep it that way. Her mind wandered to the issues going on about the 'baby killers'. She wasn't sure what side to choose. She sighed and looked down at the partly-composed sheet of music she had in her hands.
A soft purr interrupted her thoughts, and she looked over at Danja, her pet tiger. Kind of crazy, but yes, she did have a pet tiger. Next to Danja, Rose, her German Shepherd, whined softly.
"You guys want something to eat?" she asked them. Danja just stuck her head under Jacqueline's hand to be pet. "Well, I'll take that as a no." Jackie smiled. Rose, on the other hand bounded to the door, then bounded back. "Oh, do you want to go for a walk and pick something up at 'our' cafe?" Rose barked excitedly. "All right then, let me get my sweater."

The cafe was the same as usual. DJ and AJ were seen there regularly, but they had never really told anybody that they were mutants from the X-Mansion. Even so, the fact that Dana was wearing gloves in the latter of spring was enough to get a few odd stares, but nothing to cause a conflict.
They took a seat at one of the tables outside, and Koda sat at their heels, panting. DJ reached down and pet the dog while a waitress came to take their order. Nothing unusual here.
"A strawberry italian soda, please." Alex asked. The waitress looked at him, surprised by his accent. She wasn't expecting him to be Australian. Well, that wasn't unusual in America. People often were surprised by their accent, and they'd both received countless comments about how much people loved it. It was odd, though. It wasn't really something they could control. It was just... normal.
Since the public opinion reverted against superhumans, Alex started to become much more aware of his surroundings. He was careful of the things he said when in public, and he was always on the watch for government officials, or on edge when he heard that Tony Stark, Iron Man, was amidst the premisis. The last thing he wanted was for Stark to find out about he and his sister, and what they believed in.
Dana looked at the woman and ordered a peach smoothie, and she left.
"So, Red," DJ piped up, propping her left elbow up onto the table, and resting her chin in her hand, "what're we thinkin'?"
Alex rubbed his forehead with his hands, and sighed, "I dunno, DJ. What're we going to do? We can't just do nothing." He said, "We can't just sit back and watch this happen."
"Yes, yes. I know. But what're we supposed to do, AJ? Just up and leave?"
"I never said that."
"Oh? So you have a solution?" DJ challenged.
"No, I'm just saying," Alex explained, "There are others who have left..."
"And what would we do if we left? Where would we go?"
Alex stared into space for a moment, and held out his hand slightly, pointing at nothing, "Well, we could join the--"
DJ grabbed his hand, and pulled it down. "No. We can't." She sighed, and spoke in a low voice, hunching over the table, "We have to stay in the mansion. If we did leave, when all is said and done, no matter how this works out, where would we go?"
"Xavier's a reasonable man. I'm sure he'd let us back in." Alex said back, in a low voice to match his sister's tone.
The waitress came with their drinks. Dana released his hand, sat up straight, and thanked her. When the woman left, she sipped her smoothie and heaved a heavy sigh. Shaking her head, she replied, "I don't know, AJ. You do what you feel is right. You're twenty-one years old, I can't stop you. But, I can't say I'm about to join you, right now."

As Jackie walked Rose down the street she took deep breaths of the fresh, clean air. Very refreshing! She and Rose walked up to the cafe and went in.
"Hey, Marilynn!" Jackie said to her usual waitress "Can I get a window seat today?"
"Sure, Jackie, follow me! Hey, Rose, how's it going?" Marilynn bent down to pet the German Shepherd's head, then led Jackie to a nice 2 person booth by the window.
As they were walking back to the booth, she noticed that Fracture and Infrared were here too. So much for getting this place all to herself.

AJ's eyes shifted momentarily. That Jaqueline girl had just arrived, and was heading inside. He wondered what she thought of the SHRA. Did she agree with he and Dana? Now, then, he surely wasn't going to ask her. Not here. Not now.
DJ followed his gaze towards her, and quickly looked back towards her brother. She knew what he was thinking. "You think she agrees?" She asked him telepathically.
Physically, AJ shook his head, but he replied to her in his mind, "I dunno. But I really don't think it matters."
Dana raised her eyebrows, "You think she'll care if we join her?"
"I don't know, Dana." His eyes were rolling, but his lips weren't moving, "It doesn't really look like she wants any company."
It was the stretch limo down the street that drew Dana's attention away from him, and their current conversation. He remembered hearing that Tony Stark was still in town, after talking with the Professor about the X-Men's standing in the civil war, though he refused to call it that. He was sure that was the billionaire's limo down on the corner. He saw it enough on television to for his photographic memory to take notice of it. It was slowly making its way down their side of the street.
DJ eyed him, and he waited for the limo to get nearer. When it was close enough, he looked at Dana, blinked his eyes once, and turned towards the limo again. The iris of his eyes were violet. X-Ray.
Focusing in on the vehicle, his vision penetrated straight through the tinted glass and metal, and got a clear view of who was inside. It was then that the vehicle stopped on the side of the road.
Blinking his eyes again, he whirled to face his sister. "Time to go."
Dana nodded, threw ten dollars on the table, and the two rose and walked down the street without a glance in the limo's direction.
Even if Stark really knew who they were, there really wasn't anything to worry about right now. But Alex and Dana still chose to avoid him at all costs at the risk of him finding out their standing. They would never register. And, if Alex had to, he would join the Secret Avengers and fight by Captain America's side. He couldn't say the same for Dana, though. She wouldn't register, but the chances of her joining the Secret Avengers were slim to none.

Jackie watched Infrared and Fracture as Infrared had stared at the limo for a few minutes. Then they tossed money on the table and left. Well, she was sort of watching them. She could see their body heat, she really didn't see with normal human vision. Oh, she could change her eyes to be cat or dog or horse eyes, but they don't look human, so it was easier to pretend she was blind and use her 'normal' vision.
She turned her attention to the person getting out of the car. It was Tony Stark. She had heard about him on TV. He was a billionaire, but he was also a mutant. She hoped he didn't know she was a mutant, because she knew that he was a very prominent person when it came to opinions about the SHRA, and she really didn't want to discuss it right now. She watched him get out of his car, and wondered what he was doing around here? Maybe he was just stopping by after visiting Professor X.
((is he an NPC?))

(( Yep. I was gonna take control of him, but I wouldn't know what to do with him right now. I might later though, but for now, he can be an NPC. And, technically, Tony Stark isn't a mutant. Iron Man's like the Marvel Batman, hehe. A billionaire genious with no real superhuman abilities, but who still kicks butt.
Sorry, I'm a little anxious for the Iron Man movie to come out. I'm such a sucker for comic book movies. xD
ANYWHO, you can use him, if you need to. ))
A young man eyed Tony Stark's limo as he approached the side of the road. There was something about the boy's eyes that unnerved him, and he squinted through the tinted window to get a clearer look. Were his eyes... purple? Stark made eye-contact. The windows were tinted, so the boy would never know he was staring him straight in the eyes. Yes, they were indeed purple. Strange.
Suddenly, the young man turned, said something to the girl that was sitting across from him, and the two abruptly left.
Tony Stark got out of his stretch limo, and straightened his midnight blue neck-tie. He looked at their table. Their drinks weren't even half-empty. The cheque wasn't on the table. They'd simply placed a ten-dollar-bill under the edge of one of the plates. It would seem that they'd left in a hurry.
He continued into the cafe, thinking about Professor Xavier's recommendations for this place, and took a seat near the back. He had some extra time on his hands, which was rare. Especially now, with himself heading up the SHRA. So many political things to attend to.
A waitress approached him, smiling from ear to ear, clearly recognizing him. "Good afternoon, Mr. Stark. Can I take your order?"
Stark smiled, placed his right elbow on the table, supporting his head. "I've heard that this cafe has the best coffee in town." He stated simply, "Black. Two sugars."
With that, the waitress nodded her head, and turned to receive his coffee.
(( No idea what to do with him from here. If you have any ideas, go right ahead. ))

((ok, thanx a bunch!))
Jacqueling watched Tony Stark take a spot right across from her. She hoped that he wouldn't notice her.
"Hello," Tony said, smiling at her.
The girl looked at him "Hello, Mr. Stark," she said. She had sunglasses on, even inside a building. A glance under the table showed a German Shepherd with a guide dog handle on it staring at him.
"That's a very handsome dog you have there," Tony said.
"Thank you, her name is Rose. I've had her for about a year now" Jacqueline was very nervous talking to a billionaire.
"What's your name? You know mine, and I know your dog's but I dont' know yours"
"Jacqueline" she replied. The waitress came back with Jacqueline's bill and Mr. Stark's coffee. "Well, I had better go. Good-bye, Mr. Stark. Come along, Rose," Jackie said as she grasped the handle and rose from her seat. "It was nice meeting you,"
"It was nice meeting you, too" he replied, watching her leave. There was something about her that reminded him of those two kids he had seen outside of the cafe. Well, he wasn't going to worry about it now. Professor Xavier had given him much to think about, and he wanted to enjoy a bit of coffee and relaxation while he could.
--------------------------------------------
Jackie took the long way back to the school, wandering through a park. She wanted to pick sides for the SHRA, but she wasn't sure. She could understand the sentiments of both sides, but she didn't know what side she would choose if it came down to choosing sides. Suddenly, she felt uneasy, like someone or something was watching her, but she didn't know what. She didn't want to look, because seeing things with heat vision is rather frightening on it's own, and it would take too long to change her eyes to cat or dog eyes.

DJ sat beside AJ in the X-Mansion lounge, watching television. Spiderman, otherwise known as Peter Parker, a freelance photographer who worked for the Daily Bugle, was all over the news. It was just days after he unmasked himself on national television, and the media was eating it up.
Dana shook her head in frustration with her arms folded, and her teeth clenched. The man was apparently married, and she couldn't believe he would put his wife in danger like this. But, obviously, he hadn't seen things that way, or he wouldn't have pulled his mask off on national TV.
"I don't believe this," she muttered to Alex telepathically, so no others in the room would hear the conversation, except maybe the scattered telepath. "How could he do that to his wife?"
"Who knows?" Alex replied, "Maybe she supports him."
Dana chuckled, "I would never support my husband if he did that to me. I mean, I'd at least learn a little self-defense if I didn't know any already."
Alex shrugged, "Maybe she does."
"Let's hope so."
