Looks: Thick wavy dark hair; receding. Wears contacts. Average build. Piercing grey eyes and a brilliant smile (when he cares to use it, which is rarely). Heavily lined face from frowning at too many difficult cases

and because of marital problems.
Personality:
Direct and to the point. Fiercely private. Is outgoing and friendly, but gives the appearance of always having ulterior motives. Works tirelessly on any case - like a terrier. Never gives up. Believes in 'nothing'. Extremely cynical.
Bio: Was born and raised a devout catholic. He lived in Ireland until age 12. On his twelfth birthday, his parents divorce came through. His father had abandoned catholicism and Robert had the option of living with him or continue living with his mother. He chose to move with his father to Scotland while his mother stayed in Ireland with his two sisters. Decided at that age that God definitely did not exist, but has come to the point of 'not knowing'.
Has been involved in many difficult cases at the Yard and was given charge of the De'Trafford case.
Married in 1987 but has had no children over his 12 years of marriage. Difficulties with his work schedule conflicting with 'time at home' is the main cause of problems, along with personality conflicts. Now, his wife only stays with him for convenience and he ignores her 'indiscretions' as she ignores his.
