Hidden Treasure
What's that mean?
14 With Your hand from men, O LORD,
From men of the world who have their portion in this life,
And whose belly You fill with Your hidden treasure.
They are satisfied with children,
And leave the rest of their possession for their babes.
15 As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness;
I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.
(Psalm 17)

1st though...John 7:37-39-
On the last and grestest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a LOUD voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the scripture has said, streams of LIVING WATER will fow from within him. By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believe in him were later to recieve. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.
treasure= Holy Spirit
English standard- "out of the heart will flow rivers of living water"
and
KJV...out of the belly shall slow rivers of living water..

He's talking about unbelievers being given the Holy Spirit?
This is the overall context:
6 I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God;
Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech.
7 Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand,
O You who save those who trust in You
From those who rise up against them.
8 Keep me as the apple of Your eye;
Hide me under the shadow of Your wings,
9 From the wicked who oppress me,
From my deadly enemies who surround me.
10 They have closed up their fat hearts;
With their mouths they speak proudly.
11 They have now surrounded us in our steps;
They have set their eyes, crouching down to the earth,
12 As a lion is eager to tear his prey,
And like a young lion lurking in secret places.
13 Arise, O LORD,
Confront him, cast him down;
Deliver my life from the wicked with Your sword,
14 With Your hand from men, O LORD,
From men of the world who have their portion in this life,
And whose belly You fill with Your hidden treasure.
They are satisfied with children,
And leave the rest of their possession for their babes.
(Psalm 17)

[quote=intricatic;87138]What's that mean?

From men of the world who have their portion in this life,
And whose belly You fill with Your hidden treasure.
They are filled with the treasures of this earth, their sights only on what the world has to offer...they have a lot of material possessions to pass on to their children...kinda like making the wallet thicker, full of treasure?
They are satisfied with children,
And leave the rest of their possession for their babes.
15 As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness;
I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.
(Psalm 17)
As for me, his thoughts are on the Face above, not to look at what the world has obtained, not to let envy seep in, but to keep his hope towards heaven. To keep his focus on the treasures of the Lord...
my two cents...

That would be like the idea of general grace, no? God's general blessings are received by both righteous and unrighteous alike.

ok...I didn't read the whole chapter.... I just saw what was highlighted.
I have a different wording...
New international version:
Ps17:14-
O Lord, by your hand save me from such men, from men of this world whose reward is in this life.
You still the hunger of those you cherish; their sons have plenty, and they store up wealth for their children.
...
one scripture, two different peoples.
In the mist of everything happening, and in prayer, David knew God would take care of his children after he was long gone.

Yes, the material possessions of this world is avail to everyone. Those who choose to reject Christ, that will be their reward. ("He who dies with the most toys", you know?) Yet we as Christians, though we have access to the same things, our reward is FAR GREATER and fills the heart and soul, not the belly.
my two cents...
